Skiing Pyrenees
Ski Season Starts 29th November
The ski runs and lifts at Tourmalet, La Mongie and Barèges are being prepared for the opening of the ski season. The snowfall over the last few days have meant that piste bashing could begin, the snow canons are also being utilised to guarantee a great start to the season.
It is envisaged that the ski season will commence on Saturday November 29, 2008.
Our French bed and breakfast is ideally placed for skiing pyrenees, we are 20-30 minutes from the largest ski resort La Mongie . Have a look at our skiing and snowboarding page for further information and links to the ski resort website.

The
Pyrenees
If you are looking for tranquillity and peace you will find it in this beautiful mountain
range, there are rolling hills, sun dappled forests, meadows and farmland, rivers,
gorges, caves and waterfalls. A diverse landscape encompassing mile-upon-mile
of peace and tranquillity. Perfect for walking, cycling, climbing, rafting,
canoeing, fishing, bird watching and of course skiing in the winter and if all that
sounds too exhausting why not just relax and unwind in the wonderful rural surrounding.
New Ryanair ski flight to Lourdes
Ryanair have announced a new winter flight from Stanstead, London to Lourdes commencing the 20th December 2008. The flight is aimed at skiers and will allow easier access to La Mongie and other ski resorts in the Pyréenes. The spring/summer charter flights to Lourdes have always been popular with pilgrimes. Our bed and breakfast is situated about 20 minutes drive from Lourdes and we provide airport collecting and drop-off. La Mongie is 15 minutes drive from our house, it's not far but as the roads are mountainous it takes a bit longer. The resort ski bus stops 5 mins. walk from our village.

house and orchard garden provide wonderful views of the near mountains of the Parc

village is situated on the outskirts of an elegant spa town, Bagneres-de-Bigorre.
The town has restaurants, a market selling local produce, an amazing
swimming pool, art galleries, a cinema, and of course the spa for which the town is
famous.
Gerde is approximately two kilometres from Bagneres-de-Bigorra and
is easily reached on foot in fifteen minutes. The village has a small shop selling
local farm produce and a restaurant that uses local produce to produce wonderful traditional
dishes.
