are two airports nearby, Pau is the nearest at about fourty minutes drive

Bordeaux
Bordeaux is quite a bit further but there are many flights from the UK. Travelling from Bordeaux airport to La Maison Tranquille is pleasant is there is a lot less traffic in this part of France than in the UK. Driving
Some prefer to drive, if you are touring France and can take your time this is a great way to see the various regions of the country. It is a long drive from the UK and probably on worth undertaking if you intend staying for a few weeks. There are many ferry companies offering great deals to cross the channel, although if travelling in high season you need to book a few months ahead. You could take the Channel Tunnel instead of the ferry.
